What better time to look at TWD/zombie calendars?

Here are some of the best.

Each month features a superb illustration of the zombies and how to ensure a smooth transition from un-dead to dead. That'll come in handy.

What does a fan of The Walking Dead get for Christmas?

This if they are very, very lucky...

Walking Dead News

Man shoots girlfriend over TWD argument
We all love the show and boy do we take it seriously, but not so much that we’d shoot someone over it. That’s what happened when Jared M. Gurman and his girlfriend argued over his theory that a military mishap had caused the virus.

Thankfully, she survived after he claimed the gun went off accidentally.

Read the story here.

R.I.P T-Dog Wish you'd had more lines.

The man who plays T-Dog speaks out
The T-Dog is gone. His last act was to save Carol from the walkers.

To read actor Iron E Singleton talk about T-Dog's demise ckick here

A scene from Zombie Apocalypse

Discovery Channel’s “Apocalypse Tuesday”
Yes, really. The Discovery Channel "introduces a group of ordinary people prepping for a zombie takeover and examines the science behind this end-of-the-world scenario in the new one-hour special ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, premiering Tuesday, December 18th at 10PM ET/PT as part of Discovery Channel’s “Apocalypse Tuesday” lineup beginning at 8PM ET/PT."

One of things being discussed will be whether humans could really become zombies and the science behind it.

What next for The Walking Dead?

The Walking Dead will return on February 2013, but what's going to happen next in the show?

Here's the things I want to see....

1. Daryl and Merle to beat the crap out of each other and use it as a ruse to escape...

Who says the show isn't big enough for both of them?

The actors who play Daryl and Merle Dixon will reprise their roles in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a first-person survival game set prior to the events of AMC’s popular TV show.

2. Andrea to stop being the dumb blonde and to see the Governor for what he is...

Open your eyes, Andrea. He's a wrong 'un

and bring an axe down on his head to split it in two. Sadly, the Governor hasn't lived up to the comics or the hype (at least in my mind, although he's had his moments).

3. Morgan brilliantly played by Lennie James to re-enter the fray.

COME BACK MORGAN & DUANE

Let's find out how he and his son, Duane, who nearly split Rick's head open with a spade survived. Go on give us some hope. It was vintage zombie fare when Rick was holed up in Morgan's place summoning up the courage to send a bullet through zombie mom's brain.

4. Stop killing the black guy.

We've already lost T, we don't want to lose Tyreese.

T-Dog, who was continually starved of storylines, lasted longer than expected, but Tiny (ironically the big guy from the prison) lasted less time than it took for him to be introduced despite coming across as a character they could do a lot with.

Now Tyreese (played by The Wire star Chad L Coleman) has arrived with his band of survivors, do us a favour - don't kill the black guy.

Check out this great interview over at Collider.com withChad L Coleman and chant after me - "Don't kill Tyreese, don't kill Tyreese. Pretty, pretty please."

5. Give the survivors some hope.

The haven at Hershel's farm ended when they got swamped my zombies.

Lori didn't live long enough to see her baby. Hardly surprising when the tot was cut out of her.

The heaven that was Woodbury (at least in the zombie age) turned out to be a real life hell created by a man who turned out to be a psychopath and a madman.

I mean who tries to brush a zombie's hair? The walkers are decomposing.

6. Bring it on Michonne.

The best thing to happen to the show is this awesome, kick ass, katana wileding zombie assassin. In a show where the women seem to end up relying on men, she's a breath of fresh air. The only thing she needs is her mighty katana.

The Walking Dead TWD to run Its first 2 Seasons In black and white

But how will we see the blood splattered all over the place?

Great news for fans of the hit show as its first two seasons will run in their entirety in February, but with a difference - the show will be in black and white.

Will it make any difference to how the show comes across? We'll just have to wait until February to find out.

Zombie costumes - join the ranks of The Walking Dead

The one thing that all zombie fans can agree on is that when it comes to dressing up as a zombie it can be difficult to get the right costume.

Here's a taster of what's available and what you could be seeing at a New Year's party near you.

Scary zombie man
Now, we're talking. This costume's pretty good. This guy is someone who's survived a long time and has a lot of tales to tell. If only he could speak, rather than grunt and drool:)

Zombie housewives costume
Hey, I'm not too keen on this one but with a bit of customization this could look more zombie than Stepford Wife who's rushed to get on her dress that's been eaten by moths and then attcked by the kids with paint.

This zombie costume is available from allfancydress.com

Zombie sexy French maid
Again, not too keen on this. It looks more like she's a vampire than a zombie.

Kid's zombie costume
Why should the kids be left out when it comes to zombie fest?
This costume comes from escapade.co.uk and they have pages of them. Why not check them out?

 Zombie American Football costume
It's inevitable that when the undead do rise that people will be doing everyday things. Things like playing ball. This costume is exclusive to partycity.com so it's USA only I'm afraid.

If none of these costumes is quite zombie enough for you, you could always -
1. Make your own.

2.Get someone to turn you into a real-life zombie.

3.Become a zombie extra on The Walking Dead.

Christmas Walking Dead style

What do you get someone who can't get enough of this?

You can never either buy or receive enough zombie gifts this Christmas. With that in mind, here's some more awesome, zombtastic, undead merchandise.

This time, I thought I'd concentrate on gifts for The Walking Dead.

TWD figures
Sadly, most of the figures I've seen look nothing like the characters.

These little beauties featuring kick ass Michonne and her two pet zombies as a complete set, are available from Forbidden Planet in the UK (they won't be available until March 2013 though) although you can buy Michonne's zombies one at a time. See Amazon.com for zombie 1 and zombie 2.

TWD Comics/graphic novels
Why not find out how close the storylines of the hit TV show are to the original comics? Who knows you might find out what's to come when season 3 starts again in Febuary 2013.
If you do, tell us. We'll keep quiet, honest.

TWD in Playboy
Fancy reading an exclusive 6-page story in Plyaboy featuring Michonne? Then look no further than the April 2012 issue of Playboy.

Get the t-shirt
Drew Struzan, the internationally recognized artist responsible for the iconic posters of such blockbusters as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Blade Runner  has produced a poster for The Walking Dead.

Piggy bank
This bank will eat your money and hey, it might even eat you. I'm reliably informed that this particular zombie is available in the US and the UK.

What are you blethering on about? A guide to Scottish words in Dead Bastards

Dead Bastards was originally going to be called Deid Bastards - deid is the Scottish word for dead. So, I thought it would be fun to look at the Scottish words used in my zombie book and the words that didn't make it.

Dunderhead (this can also be dunderheid) - This is a term of abuse and means someone who is an idiot.

How to use it - "That guy is a total dunderhead."

Lum - The Scottish word for chimney.

How to use it - "He smokes like a lum."

Blether - This means talk or chat.
How to use it - "We had a right good blether."
It can also be used with ing at the end i.e. "stop your blethering." In other words, don't talk so much.

Glaikit - one of my all-time favourite Scottish words, when we say someone's glaikit we mean they look stupid and slow witted.

How to use it - "Look at that big glaikit guy playing up front."

That's no  - Scottish people talk really fast and we have an economy of words so whatever we say rolls of the tongue.

How to use it - In sentences where you would say not i.e. Instead of "that's not fair," we would say "that's no fair."

Goonie - this means gown. Despite the fact "goon" is in it, this has nothing to do with the heavies Tony Soprano would have.

How to use it - "The hospital goonie barely covered my bum."

Irn Bru - the unofficial national drink of Scotland made by Barrs, this is the number 1 selling soft drink in the country. It's also known as a great hangover cure.
